Local music critic, Bernard Lee, has deemed our performance of the War Requiem "an outstanding account of Britten’s multi-layered, titanic plea for peace and reconciliation". Read his review to hear more about his impressions of the concert.
In the words of Oratorio Chair, Lydia Fielder Lord, "it was an intense, gutsy and emotional experience with Chorus, orchestra, soloists and choristers giving their all." She praised Musical Director, Alan Eost, for bringing it all together, and thanked all who helped make the concert such a success, including Joshua Hales, Neil Taylor, Fraser Wilson, Jonathan Gooing and three outstanding soloists – Laura Mitchell, Mark Wilde, and Ross Ramgobin. And we shouldn't forget those behind the scenes, particularly concert managers Lydia Fielder Lord and Bill Clarke, and the Northern Chamber Orchestra's orchestra manager, Caroline Hewitt.
