It's not too early to sign up for our September all-day workshop with Bob Chilcott. The workshop is open to all choral singers and it will be taking place at St Andrew's United Reformed Church, Upper Hanover Street, Sheffield, on Saturday 10th September. The composer himself is leading the event, where we will be working on excerpts from his Salisbury Vespers and the Nidaros Jazz Mass.
Bob Chilcott has been called “a contemporary hero of British choral music”, and his works are widely performed not only in this country but right across the world. His Salisbury Vespers have an established place in the choral repertory, combining lively settings of traditional psalms with Marian motets, a setting of the Magnificat based on the plainsong of Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610, and more. By contrast, Chilcott's Nidaros Jazz Mass is a vivid, innovative and hugely enjoyable setting of the Latin Missa Brevis.
Sheffield Oratorio Chorus will be performing the Salisbury Vespers at Sheffield Cathedral on 19th November 2016.
The workshop starts with registration at 10am and will conclude with an informal concert by 5pm; hire of music and free concert tickets for guests are included in the cost: £10 for students, £30 for choral participants (£20 for SOC members). Download a registration form and email it to email@example.com or send it to the address you will find, together with more details, on the form.
